I view counseling as a collaborative process between the client and the therapist, with the client being the expert on their own lives. My goal is to support my clients in achieving the goals they set for themselves, and getting the most out of their counseling experiences. My background includes working for two years with adolescents from the juvenile justice system in a residential treatment setting providing mental health and substance use treatment, working as a school-based mental health provider for three years with preschool age through high school age students, providing counseling services in a university counseling center with undergraduate students, and providing substance use and mental health treatment at Akron Children’s Hospital through Adolescent Behavioral Health and Addiction Services.
I am an EMDR therapist, and have experience working with trauma, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, ADHD, school and behavioral concerns, stress and emotion management, life transitions, wellness and self-care, and family conflict with clients ages 5 through 75.

I have spent my adult life listening to people’s stories; first as a journalist, then as a fundraiser, and now as a counselor. The stories we remember and tell about our lives inform who we are and who we want to be. It is a privilege to hold space for the stories my clients tell as we work together to find meaning and purpose within them.
I utilize an eclectic combination of techniques including narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, CBT, and DBT to help my clients through the hardships of being human. My areas of focus include couples/relationships, anxiety, panic, grief, and life transitions. Under the supervision of Carl DeJohn, Jr., LPCC-S, I will work in collaboration with you toward achieving your goals and gaining self-knowledge, while maintaining an open-minded, non-judgemental perspective. I strive to bring warmth, empathy, and a sense of humor into my counseling relationships because sometimes laughter really is the best medicine.
In my free time I love to cook, cross-stitch, read fantasy novels, and listen to podcasts. You can frequently find me cuddling my cats or watching Ted Lasso with my husband.

Through life’s messiness it can be easy to lose track of who we are and where we want to go. Therapy can help remind us that our past traumas and current stressors shape us, but need not define us. As a therapist, it’s with compassion, understanding, and humor that I offer a space for self-discovery and self-actualization. Whatever brought you here, I strive to connect not just as therapist-and-client, but as people.
I balance cognitive, somatic, and expressive approaches to offer insight and calm the nervous system – as working with both body and mind has proven to create sustainable change. I am an EMDR therapist, and also incorporate CBT, mindfulness, and narrative therapy techniques. That being said, my main goal will always be finding what works best for you.
I work with people ages 15+, and welcome ruminators, creatives, and deep thinkers who are looking to make sense of their lives, find belonging, or get unstuck. My areas of focus include trauma, grief, LGBTQ+, anxiety, depression, and navigating life transitions.
I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ethiopia for three years, and will always have a place in my heart for learning from other cultures. In my free time you might find me enjoying our local Metroparks, hiking in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, playing video games, or practicing piano. My partner and I both enjoy working in our pollinator garden, so we can give a little bit of land back to the bees and butterflies.

My work lends itself to clients who seek to gain or deepen the language of physical sensation as it relates to their emotions, thoughts, and behavior. I often see people with chronic pain, invisible illness, looping thoughts, and emotional flashbacks. While these experiences can be linked to trauma, anxiety, or depression I prefer to first explore moving through these experiences as if they are a part of our individual development. I entered the counseling profession later in life, after working in community development, science education, recovery support, and integrative bodywork. The weaving of my past experiences and engagement with people is present in the room when listening to stories. My clients and I work together to design a treatment to aligns with their symptoms, learning style, processing pace, and intentions for self. Science tells us that stress patterns and relational trauma are stored in the body’s memory as much as the mind’s – so it’s ideal to retrain the nervous system. I believe quality therapy does this through an integrative model – working to repair social disconnection, increase a sense of internal safety, and reduce both emotional & physical suffering. With these goals in mind, I offer cognitive-behavioral, mindful-based, somatic (body-centered), and Ketamine-assisted psychotherapies. I am grateful to be under the supervision of Phil Palmison, LPCC-S here at Palm Wellness.

The therapeutic relationship is a test of vulnerability for clients and trust in their therapist. Without trust, transparent communication, and acceptance, there is no relationship! This is why in my 10 years of mental health experience I have emphasized to my clients that we are a team, working together to create a better state of self. I love working with children and teens to create opportunities for success through effective coping skills, negative thought challenging, and rationalization over any area of their life.
I have worked for 7 years in schools as a behavioral aide and a school counselor. During that time, I have used cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused (and a heaping amount of humor) approaches to help youth untangle the challenges that come along with anxiety, depression, inter-family violence, relationship difficulties, LGBTQ+ identity and the coming out process, self-harm and suicidal ideation, and self-esteem. I also use mindfulness practices and the philosophy that “everyone deserves to be heard” when working with my clients.
When I am outside the office, you can most likely find me cooking and jamming to music, skateboarding, gardening, or being with people I care about. I look forward to working with you!

Being able to recognize our own strengths and how we have used those strengths to succeed in the past, can be a useful tool in reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and many other mental health concerns. My counseling style is rooted in a client-centered, empathic, humanistic, non-judgmental point of view. I have 15 years experience in the mental health field ranging from Community Mental Health Centers to Managed Care Insurance to private practice. I currently work with adults ages 18 and older.
Depending on the individual, my clinical approach pulls from Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Existential Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. I have experience working with individuals who have anxiety, AD/HD, anger management, depressive disorders, gender identity, and complex trauma. I am an ally of the LGBTQ+ community and I believe strongly in the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and that every person has the ability within themselves to not only enact change, but be their very own change agent. Long-term, I work with clients in hopes of building the confidence and skill set to move forward knowing that they are more than capable of managing anything that life throws their way.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife of 16 years and our kids and pets. I also enjoy being outdoors, coaching my daughter’s softball team, exercising, golfing, reading, and watching sports.

From a young age, I’ve been driven by a profound curiosity about enhancing focus, energy, and happiness in myself and others. This passion fuels my approach to counseling, where we embark on a journey together to uncover your true desires and navigate the path from your current situation to your ideal life. Recognizing our unique differences, we’ll embrace a playful exploration to discover what resonates best with you.
With decades of experience, I am deeply committed to remaining at the forefront of psychological science and practice. Beyond earning a PhD and licensure as a psychologist, I actively engage in ongoing education through workshops, courses, and involvement in professional organizations. My recent endeavors include certifications in brain chemistry alignment techniques, leveraging thoughts, feelings, and sensations to help you achieve your aspirations.
My practical application of psychology spans various roles: as an adjunct faculty member in a graduate business school, a consultant for diverse companies, a counselor for adults for several decades, and the creator of an intensive outpatient program.
I specialize in supporting adults undergoing career or relationship transitions, employing an array of effective therapeutic techniques. These include Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Intelligence, and Polyvagal Theory. As a Certified Havening Practitioner, I also offer psychosensory methods to address complex trauma. Through these modalities, we aim not just to cope, but to actively create the life you envision. Beyond my practice, I enjoy designing workshops for leaders on applying psychological theories to enhance both organizational and individual growth. Currently, I’m researching and writing a book that introduces children to the concepts of aligning feelings, sensations, and words. I’m always on the lookout for opportunities to invite laughter.
